Daily Video: Blackmagic Design’s Multicam Editing Lesson for Creators

Daily video pick · 28 October 2026

A second camera gives a creator more choices, but it also introduces an editing problem: keeping the angles aligned while deciding which view best serves the story. Today’s archive selection is Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 17 Edit Training - Multicam Editing, an official lesson that starts with a two-camera interview before moving to a larger music performance.

Official Blackmagic Design training video, hosted on YouTube. Autoplay is off.

What to watch for

The opening chapters separate preparation from cutting: creating a multicam clip at 1:08, making a timeline at 1:47 and synchronizing clips at 2:18. Notice that choosing an angle is only one part of the process. A usable edit first needs footage that represents the same moment.

Blackmagic’s official training catalogue describes this lesson as a progression from syncing angles to editing a two-camera video and then a multicamera music performance. That makes it relevant to recorded interviews, creator conversations and performance recaps. It is an editing lesson, not a demonstration of switching a live broadcast.

A small practice exercise

Our suggested exercise is to use two short recordings you own, align the same spoken phrase in both views, and make a few deliberate angle changes. Watch the result once for picture continuity and again for sound continuity. The aim is to check whether the cut helps the viewer, not to switch cameras simply because another view exists. This is a suggested practice routine, not a claim that we tested the creator’s project.
