An en prison marker changes the status of an existing roulette stake. For someone reviewing a stream, the useful question is whether those chips are still unresolved, have been released, or have been collected. Treating every visible chip as a fresh wager can produce a misleading account of the session.
An unresolved stake has its own history
One documented example appears in Casino 2000 published game rules, Article 25. After zero on an eligible even-money wager, the published rule offers a half-stake withdrawal or imprisonment of the whole stake. If the next result is a qualifying nonzero outcome, an imprisoned winning-side stake is released without an ordinary profit payment; the opposing stake is lost. This is a description of that rulebook, not a promise that another table offers the option.
The distinction can be understood without calculating a house edge. In a hypothetical ledger, label an initial 20-unit stake A. If A enters prison, record it as unresolved rather than as a new 20-unit purchase. If the applicable rule subsequently releases A, the return closes the original entry. Do not record both a return of 20 and an additional 20-unit win.
Repeat zero is a separate rule
The 2010 Andalusian official bulletin also documents a French-roulette arrangement in which consecutive zeros affect the value retained, and the final spin of a session has a specific settlement provision. This historical example is useful because it shows why the short phrase “en prison” is insufficient documentation. It should not be read as a statement of current Spanish law or of rules applicable in the Philippines.
- Keep the original stake identifier attached to every later settlement entry.
- Record the exact repeat-zero clause rather than assuming that the first-zero procedure repeats unchanged.
- Check whether the published rules address table closure, departure, or an interrupted session.
- Distinguish a new voluntary wager from an existing stake awaiting resolution.
For a replay review, make a simple timeline: original placement, zero, marker applied, later result, and final accounting. A cropped clip beginning with the marker already on the table cannot show the full financial story. If the record omits a step, label the outcome unresolved instead of filling the gap with an assumed win.
This is a rules-and-recordkeeping explanation, not a reason to extend play until a stake is released. The specific game rules govern, and gambling can result in loss.
